Schooner Strategies, a national consulting firm specializing in public policy development, accreditation standards and population health, among other initiatives, announces the addition of Monique Yohanan, MD, MPH to Schooner’s senior leadership team. As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Yohanan will support Schooner clients, addressing a number of key issues ranging from mental health parity to telemedicine initiatives.
“I am looking forward to supporting Schooner’s dynamic array of clients who are promoting meaningful change in healthcare,” notes Dr. Yohanan. “In today’s complex regulatory and business environments, it is important to find innovative solutions that promote better clinical and financial outcomes. I am passionate about transforming outdated models of care with emerging solutions.”
Dr. Yohanan has more than 20 years of experience working in, teaching, and consulting on various aspects of healthcare, and a background that bridges the gap between medicine and psychiatry. She is a much sought-after public speaker and has given numerous invited lectures, symposia, courses, and workshops at national and state academic medical meetings, as well as Grand Rounds at institutions such as Harvard and Yale. Dr. Yohanan has been published on topics ranging from acute pain management and psychopharmacology to mental health parity and the opioid crisis.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Yohanan join Schooner Strategies,” comments Garry Carneal, JD, MA, Schooner’s President and CEO. He adds, “She is a national thought leader on many key areas including medical management interventions and best practices associated with evidence-based medicine. Her experience and expertise always bring a fresh perspective when dealing with complex healthcare issues.”
Prior to joining Schooner, Monique worked for MCG/Hearst Health for several years, in roles including Director for State Government Relations, Subject Matter Expert in Behavioral Health and Senior Physician Editor. She received her MD from the Dartmouth/Brown Program in Medicine, an MPH from Johns Hopkins, and trained in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at Harvard and Stanford. She has held faculty appointments at UCSF and Stanford and was a Medical Director in Extended Care at the VA Palo Alto.
