Over the past 10 years, the medical management system has undergone rapid transformation. This session will focus on key strategies to improve population health, including topics like:

- An overview of care management interventions to address complex medical, social, and behavioral needs
- The need to include prevention and wellness services
- The goal of integrating traditional medical services with mental health and substance abuse programs

Sarika Aggarwal, MD, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Fallon Community Health Plan
Sarika Aggarwal, MD, serves as Fallon Community Health Plan’s Chief Medical Officer and is responsible for ensuring the appropriateness, quality and cost-effectiveness of the health care services received by all FCHP members.
Dr. Aggarwal joined FCHP in 2012 as its VP of NaviCare Clinical Programs. Prior to joining FCHP, Dr. Aggarwal was the Medical Director in the Office of Clinical Integration at UMass Memorial Medical Care and an assistant professor of medicine at UMass Medical School. In this role, she facilitated new integration initiatives for medical management to help the UMass Memorial health care system develop the attributes of an integrated delivery system.
Julie O’Brien, RN, BSN, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Alicare Medical Management
Julie O’Brien, RN, BSN, serves as Alicare Medical Management’s (AMM) Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Ms. O’Brien brings over 25 years of business and clinical management, as well as nursing experience, to her position at AMM. Her responsibilities include oversight of the day-to-day operations and clinical management for the Salem, NH and King of Prussia, PA locations.
Ms. O’Brien has extensive clinical and medical practice management experience at Health Dialog, Massachusetts General Hospital, Partners, North Shore Medical Hospital, Beverly Hospital, as well as clinical nursing experience in Emergency Nursing. She recently spoke in Washington, D.C. on Healthcare Reform. Ms. O’Brien serves as Vice Chair of the RadSite Accreditation Committee and also serves on URAC’s Accreditation Committee.

Session moderator Mark Lutes has practiced with Epstein Becker Green for 27 years and offers strategic counsel on health policy and reimbursement strategy through EBG Advisors, Inc. and National Health Advisors, LLC.
