“The historical passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) has imposed a myriad of challenges and uncertainty on the entire business community,” says Kara Maciel, Member of the Firm, Labor and Employment practice, in EBG’s Washington, D.C., office. “The good news is the federal government continues to seek input from employer groups on how the regulatory changes affect their businesses and employees, so now is the ideal time to start a coalition such as BUHR.”

In addition to the national launch of BUHR, webinar speakers will provide updates on:

  • Wellness programs
  • Employer mandate reporting requirements
  • Labor union perspectives on PPACA
  • DOMA and ERISA whistleblowing claims

Webinar participants also will have an opportunity to weigh-in on such topics as ERISA Section 510, the Tax Subsidy Waiver for Labor Unions, and other PPACA-related issues.

Webinar presenters include:

  • Jeffrey A. Lieberman, Member of the Firm, Employee Benefits practice, Epstein Becker Green, New York
  • Kara M. Maciel, Member of the Firm, Labor and Employment practice, Epstein Becker Green, Washington, D.C.
  • Adam C. Solander, Associate, Health Care and Life Sciences practice, Epstein Becker Green, Washington, D.C.

“I believe BUHR’s advocacy will give employers a defense against threats to their profitability, while at the same time foster healthier, productive employees,” says Chet Rhoads, executive vice president of The HDH Group, an insurance brokerage and risk management firm and a founding member of BUHR.

“We encourage all companies and industry trade associations interested in stimulating meaningful and responsible changes to health care reform to join us for the webinar, and join our mission,” Maciel says.
