Conference Season is Warming Up!
At TCS, we love conferences! They’re an awesome opportunity to connect with industry executives, hear from other thought leaders and discuss the year’s most pressing health issues. In this ever increasing digitally and virtually connected business world, it is refreshing to get to actually meet face-to-face with these key people. The diversity of professionals is invigorating and helps us to understand what is really happening across broad swaths of the industry.
Networking opportunities at expos are always superb. For example, last year’s CMSA conference had a lunch that was hosted each day in the exhibit hall, giving everyone a chance to not only talk with almost 300 vendors who help support the conference and case managers on a daily basis, but also to review the poster presentations and network with other attendees. In addition, there were 10 breakout sessions for specific Communities of Practice that allowed everyone to share information and collaboration tools specific to their own area of practice.
Nearly all conferences host educational symposiums, concurrent sessions and poster presentations that focus on a variety of topics. These sessions include practical, operational information about specific clinical conditions and/or programs presented by case managers on the future of healthcare and healthcare reform issues presented by nationally known speakers.
Changes and Hot-button Issues
Although networking and education are both great perks to any conference, often times the best part of the event is learning more about how future healthcare reform is going to change our practice. Even though we may not have a clear picture of what that means, we do know that healthcare is going to change—for the better. With increased technology and the integration of systems, we will be able to bring together disparate healthcare providers and improve communications among the health care team.
In fact, Jeff Frater, Director of Partner Development at TCS, anticipates that the following topics will hot conversation points this season: healthcare continuing its march towards a value based reimbursement methodology, population health management, big data analytics and patient engagement, as well as identifying gaps in care and driving clinical interventions to close those gaps.
Although there are several health-related conferences happening this spring, TCS will be attending the following:
- 2015 Spring Managed Care Forum, April 23-24, 2015 in Orlando, FL
The Spring Forum brings together members and other healthcare executives from the American Association of Integrated Healthcare Delivery Systems (AAIHDS), the American Association of Managed Care Nurses (AAMCN) and the National Association of Managed Care Physicians (NAMCP). The conference is intended for medical directors, nurse executives, nurse care managers and executive directors. For more information, click here. Stop by and see us at booth #230!
