Houston, TX and Annapolis, MD / PRWeb /September 4, 2014—RadSite™, a leading accreditation organization promoting quality-based imaging practices, announces that US Imaging Network has received the Network Imaging Certification (NIC) Seal. The NIC program opens the doors for RadSite certification to health plans, provider networks, imaging provider systems, and accountable care organizations that have demonstrated their commitment to quality by having the majority of their participating providers meet the RadSite Assessment Program (RAP) requirements.

RAP certifies imaging providers based on national standards and benchmarks that promote quality, safety and business efficiency practices.  Since 2005, RadSite has reviewed over 60,000 different imaging systems located at 24,000 imaging facilities across the United States. The NIC program is designed to recognize “best-in-class” payor-based and provider-owned networks that promote quality and efficient workflows.

US Imaging is the first radiology network with facilities located across the nation to become RadSite certified, further bolstering its network quality initiatives. “With over 2,400 diagnostic imaging centers in the country, the certification of such a large number of imaging providers is a testament to our dedication to imaging excellence and customer safety,” states Karin Ajmani, CEO of US Imaging.

“With the expansion of value-based purchasing criteria in the marketplace, US Imaging has shown us that it is committed to creating a high touch and smart network that can support patients, participating providers and payors,” remarks Eliot Siegel, MD, RadSite’s chief quality officer and Accreditation Committee chair.   “Achieving RAP/NIC certification for its entire system speaks volumes about US Imaging’s core mission and leadership.  The NIC seal helps document that US Imaging is dedicated to higher standards and cost savings.”

US Imaging is a special program offered by self-insured groups and plans that reduces the costs of advanced imaging, while increasing member satisfaction and out-of-pocket cost transparency. US Imaging serves over 280 clients, including self-funded groups, health plans, third party administrators, unions and municipalities, and has been providing an average savings of 46 percent.

In addition to directing members to the highest-quality facilities to schedule appointments, US Imaging also takes the time to help patients gain a clear understanding about the different aspects of their advanced radiology test. US Imaging’s unique approach allows them to provide a “concierge” experience, while also reducing costs.

To qualify for Network Imaging Certification, imaging networks must demonstrate that at least 70% of their network is certified through RAP. US Imaging has exceeded this threshold by achieving certification for over 85% of its provider locations. RadSite believes that mandating RAP for participating providers is a true testament to US Imaging’s commitment to quality in medical imaging.

RadSite offers an array of quality-based, cost-savings assessment, certification and accreditation programs that promote best practices in imaging and other specialty services across the United States and its territories. The comprehensive programs highlight opportunities for imaging facilities (including free-standing, hospital-based, and physician offices) to achieve a high level of quality that benefits all members of the health care continuum. RadSite offers insights and recommendations that not only can improve the quality of diagnostic imaging, but also reduce the cost.  RadSite also provides educational and reporting services for health plans, imaging providers, regulators, consumers and others.
